Romanian Citizens Still Need a U.S. Visa for Tourism and Business Travel
Romanian citizens should still plan for a regular U.S. visa application when travelling to the United States for tourism or short business purposes.
Romania was expected to join the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, but the designation was later revoked after a review. This means Romanian citizens cannot rely on ESTA for U.S. travel at this time.

For most tourist or business visits, Romanian applicants should prepare for the B1/B2 visa process. This usually means completing the DS-160 form, paying the visa fee, preparing supporting documents and attending an interview if required.
Travellers should not book expensive non-refundable travel before checking the current rules and appointment availability.
Visa rules can change. Always check the official website before applying.
