Ukrainians Applying for a U.S. Visa Abroad: Poland or Romania?

Many Ukrainian applicants apply for U.S. visitor visas outside Ukraine and compare nearby appointment locations, including Poland and Romania.

The best location is not always the closest one. Applicants should compare several practical factors: appointment availability, travel route, language comfort, document readiness and whether the selected embassy or visa service accepts non-resident applicants.

Poland can be convenient for many Ukrainians because of geography, transport and Ukrainian community support. Romania, especially Bucharest, can also be practical for applicants already travelling through or living nearby.

Before choosing a location, check:

• appointment availability
• visa fee payment rules
• passport delivery or pickup options
• language of interview
• travel costs
• whether you can legally enter and stay in that country for the appointment
• whether your documents clearly explain your residence and travel situation

The location does not replace the strength of the application. A clear DS-160, consistent answers, strong ties and realistic travel purpose still matter most.
